One Stop
One Stop Centers
offer customer friendly service for all employment related needs including job
banks, career centers and opportunities for skills training. The One Stop
Centers are centrally located within the New Haven,
Middletown
and Merden areas.
The One Stop is the
place to take care of every aspect of employment. Part of the Department of
Labor, the One Stop helps people get ready to get back in the workforce.
They can help people get training to get job skills. Then, they assist in
writing a resume and practicing for interviews. Finally, they can arrange
for transportation to the job site, for the interview and for your regular
commute.
It starts with
Workforce Alliance. Connected to community colleges, the board helps people
interested in training in careers like transportation and nursing get the
job skills they need to get the job they want. People look through a choice
book, choosing from the many selections. They can choose to go back to
school or get more specific job training.
After getting the job
skills, the One Stop provides a Career
Center - a place to
get ready for getting a job and career going. At the Career Center,
people can sign up resume writing and interviewing classes. You can also
take advantage of free easy-to-use computers to look for jobs, free postage
to send out resumes, and free phones to follow-up to get that job.
After sending out
resumes, the next step is the job interview. RGC can provide the
transportation to get you to and from an interview. And when you get the
job, RGC helps provide regular transportation.
The One Stop is the place to help you get from no job to regular work,
providing assistance for you every step of the way.
